i'm here for the giant robots
[So. In a world perhaps more similar to one where certain dumbass college students stole a top-of-the-line ship, there are giant robots because of course there are. Sure, there hasn't been a major war in years, just skirmishes carefully denied by all governments, but those giant robots are far more versatile than a giant warhead of a battleship.
The political and tactical details of the world at large are currently being lost on one redhaired pilot, because she's more interested in doing routine maintenance and eating her sandwich.
In her defense, it's a fucking delicious sandwich. But be that as it may, she's about to go on leave, so if anyone wanted to bother her before she finished work on the giant murderbot and gets the hell off base, now would be the time.]

Tell me, why is it I have to provoke you on-base to get you here anymore? I didn't care about the promotion, never have cared much about rank, and you've always been an arrogant son of a bitch, but ever since then...
...You make it hard not to wonder if you don't really think I can't keep up anymore, Basajuan.

[It's a rhetorical question, by the tone.]
We both swore back then that we'd make it into the best squadron that we could, if we got through training. But the reality is, pilots like us aren't considered the heroes they used to be. As a tactical officer I spend most of my time arguing over budget cuts and personnel reassignments instead. It's disheartening...
[He sighs.]
But that doesn't answer your question. No. I meant it when I said I thought you were the best pilot we have, myself included.
no subject
That wasn't...quite what I meant, but thank you.
[She rubs a little over where his palm strike got her.]
...I've been offered diplomatic work, y'know. They finally found my transcripts and aptitude scores, seems like, and suddenly it's all sweet-talk, all the time. You'd think they'd be better at not being obvious about it.
[Actually honey, given the way you read people, it's probably only that blatant to you. Also, nice subject change, there.]
no subject
[He watches her, passively.]
Or is the better question, why are you so afraid I'd abandon you, that you would consider another line of work?
no subject
[No wars in years, perhaps, but accidents happen. And when the one kid who got sent to boarding school is now the sole survivor of her family, that shit fucks a girl up.]
I was just wondering, if I made a mistake, telling them no. It's not the first time I refused a promotion, but...it got me thinking.
no subject
You know that I'm never going to abandon you. You just need to tell me when you need me.
no subject
...Is it too obvious to say now's one of those times?
no subject
[Which explains why he is so completely content to just hold her close against him, maybe leaning his head down some near her.]
no subject
[It looks like her response to that is to...brush her lips along his ear. ]
no subject
[Just gonna shudder at her doing that, then, and continue to hold her.]
no subject
[That is an interesting reaction. What happens when she sticks her tongue in his ear.
For science.]
no subject
[That gets a bit of a gasp... and one of his arms around her sliding down her back to see exactly how much of that is the yoga pants versus natural talent.]
no subject
Then, I invited you here because I've missed you and I'd like to demonstrate such by fucking you until you can't move anymore.
no subject
See, why couldn't you have just started with that?
no subject
[He gropes her as, she slides her hands down to his hips to pull his to hers and grind.]
We gonna do this here, or would you rather somewhere a touch more comfortable?
no subject
Here, your bedroom, anywhere... Though you keep that up it's going to be here.
no subject
I don't think the floor's really terrible appropriate to start with, then. C'mon.
no subject
[Because seriously, after that it's taking a lot of willpower for him not to just slam her against a wall.]
no subject
Either way, she's heading back up out of the basement and to her room, which is rather elegantly decorated and also has a ridiculously sturdy bed, which is the important part.
She's also somehow managed to lose her shirt on the way there.]
Shall we get this party started?
no subject
[Right, then, he's just going to pull her close and lean down to kiss along those breasts, since she got rid of her top already.]
no subject
Y-you're still wearing a bit much, aren't you?
no subject
I suppose I am...
no subject
Why don't we fix that.
